Many studies revealed that anxiety could intensify the perception of pain that you will experience during labor. The secretion of catecholamine, a substance secreted when a person is stressed, could even counter the effects of oxytocin, a hormonal substance that promotes the normal progress of labor.
That is why it is so important to practice relaxation techniques that will allow you to control anxiety and stress during labor. Visualisation, massages and breathing techniques are good ways to reduce anxiety and control pain.
