Baby's development - 4th month

As he’s growing, his movements become more noticeable and you will feel him even closer to you. Baby is aware of what is happening “outside”. He perceives light and reacts to noise by replying to it in his own way. You can communicate with him by gently massaging your belly. See how he responds!

Your baby’s head continues to grow and tries to lift itself up and be proportional to the rest of the body, which is growing even faster. His legs are now bigger than his arms. Your fetus really looks like a tiny baby. He’s moving more and more and his movements become sharp and vigorous. His face is taking shape is becoming clearer. His whole skin is covered with fine, downy hair called lanugo. His brain is constantly perfecting itself and the cerebellum appears, thus ensuring the proper coordination of movement. Brain cells multiply at lightning speed, at a rate of 250,000 cells per minute. The body surrounds all the nerve fibers with a myelin sheath to increase the speed of conduction of the action potential along the axon. His hands are fully formed while the nails and hair continue to grow.
