Nights are increasingly interspersed by periods of insomnia and really uncomfortable positions. Your stomach is stretched forward and your back is arched inward, making any position (lying or not) painful and uncomfortable. Your belly is really heavy and you have shortness of breath whether you’re lying on one side or the other. Using cushions and pillows and placing them under your belly and between your legs should help.
Your breasts have started to work in preparation of lactation. You can even notice a yellowish discharge, called colostrum, coming out of your breasts. It’s the substance that comes before just before milk production.
False contractions can also be triggered. They are normal and a sign that your baby is starting to get ready for his upcoming arrival. During these last two months of pregnancy, the body is starting to prepare itself for childbirth. Your pelvis is changing and the pregnancy hormones have a direct effect on your ligaments, which are limbering up and thus allowing the pelvic bones to be tighter for the delivery.
Expectant mothers wishing to breastfeed can prepare their breasts by massaging them with a hypoallergenic and fragrance free cream or sweet almond oil. If you have small stretch marks, massage them in the same way. Some skins are tighter than others, so regardless of their natural elasticity, plan the appropriate treatment for you.
