Do you experience morning sickness? Do certain smells amplify that nausea? That’s what many women experience in the early stages of their pregnancy.
It is estimated that 30 to 50 % of pregnant women suffer from nausea at different degrees. It is believed that high levels of estrogen and the significant expansion of the uterus at this stage would be the cause of it.
The changes in carbohydrate metabolism, fatigue and emotional factors may also play a role. Furthermore, some studies link this first trimester nausea to a lower rate of miscarriage. Anyway, hang in there, these symptoms most often disappear early in the second trimester.
