Some women may experience nasal congestion and epistaxis (nosebleeds). This is due to a high level of hormones that weaken the nasal mucosa. The increased fluid volume and the softening of tissues may also contribute to this situation that could last throughout your pregnancy.
In addition to using a cold humidifier, you could use saline nose drops (Salinex) or sea salt water (hydraSense). Other decongestants are not recommended. Your blood volume has considerably increased. Your heart and your kidneys are working hard to pump and filter this excess liquid.
